Qur’anic Arabic

Introduction

ISC 2008 is offering 3 courses in Qur’anic Arabic – QA- 101 Introductory Quranic Arabic, QA- 201 Intermediate Level 1 Quranic Arabic and QA-301 Intermediate 2  Quranic Arabic.

Each course is graded and entry into each will be based on each student’s previous exposure to Qur’anic Arabic.

Aims

1. To teach students the Arabic language through the Qur’an.
2. To deal with the four components of language: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
3. To help students improve their understanding of the Qur’an as it was revealed in Arabic.
4. To inspire students with the confidence to continue their studies after the course.
5. To develop the Islamic personality and strengthen interpersonal ties.
6. To explain the relevance of the teachings to everyday life.
7. To help realize how to create a balance between seeking knowledge, living that Knowledge, spreading the knowledge and serving one’s family & society.

Courses Summary

1. Language Study: Grammar – Sarf (Arabic Morphology) and Nahw (Arabic Syntax) with examples from the Qur’an; a lot of the vocabulary taught shall be from the Qur’an.
2. Reading: reading by the student and model reading by teacher from different sources; opportunity to analyse and translate Arabic texts.
3. Written Communication: Opportunities will be presented to consolidate the students’ grasp of and promote the language through further Qur’anic examples.
