Introductory Quranic Arabic (Course 3)

QA -101 is specifically designed for students who have little or no previous knowledge of the Arabic language. Its aim is to enable you to develop a basic vocabulary as well as a grasp of fundamental grammatical structures utilizing frequently occurring Quranic words so that you capable of understanding and communicating in both spoken and written Arabic. There will be approx 8 contact hours per day during which 5 modules will be taught.

Introductory Course Prerequisites

1. Must possess sound reading and writing skills of the Qur’anic Arabic script.
2. Participants will be assessed prior to entry in the Qur’anic Arabic Programmes.

Course Content

A sound understanding of
1. Understanding nouns, and adjectives
2. Pronouns – separate and attached
3. Prepositions and associated rules
4. Inna and her “sisters”
5. Possession – the idafah construction
6. Root words. Form 1 verbs, past form
7. The past tense of qala
8. The past tense of kana
9. Usage of an Arabic Dictionary

Conversational Arabic : 1 hrs
Tafsir – Quranic selections and Tajweed : 1.25 hrs         
Quranic selections and Tajweed : 1 hr    
Arabic Grammar  : 3.5 hrs
