Inayat bunglawala

Teaching on Courses 2
One of the most high-profile Muslims in the country, Inayat Banglawala is the spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB). Whether being interviewed on TV, radio, or writing in national newspapers, he has shown how Muslims can use the media to their advantage even in the most hostile of environments. He is also Secretary to the MCB’s specialist Media Committee and shall be providing media training.

Dr Munir Ahmed, UK

Teaching on Courses 1 & 2
Dr Munir has been involved in learning and propagating Islam since the early 1980s. He is a practicing G.P. who is currently a Shura member (Central Council) of the Islamic Society of Britain. Dr Munir has been teaching Seerah on the Islamic Studies course three years.  He is the father of 4 children and grandfather of 1. He has studied for almost 10 years under the guidance of Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf Al-Judai having covered topics such as ‘Usool ul Fiqh and ‘Uloom ul Quran, Aqeedah & Hadith studies. Dr Munir has also studied Tajweed extensively; he is conversant in classical Arabic and his area of specialisation is Seerah.

Ahtesham Ali, UK

Teaching on Courses 1 & 2
Born in the UK, brother Ahtesham is a dedicated and motivated dai’yah. He has studied ‘Usool ul Fiqh for the past 5 years with Sheikh Abdullah Yusuf Al-Judai. He is the Chief Muslim advisor to the prison service and is also joint in charge of the national Muslim family event: Living Islam. He is also married with 3 children and is currently the Vice President of the Islamic Society of Britain.

Dr Basil Hatahet

Teaching on Courses 1 & 2
Born in the Damascus, Dr Basil spent his early years learning and studying the deen from leading Imams and Sheikhs of Damascus. He is conversant in Arabic and regularly gives Khutbahs in Manchester. He is also delivered Shari’yah and Islamic History topics.

Dr Riza Muhammed, UK

Teaching on Courses 1
Dr Riza Muhammed was born in Trinidad and in the last few years has moved to the U.K. He is an active da’iyah and writer/editor of a number of publications including books on spiritual development and Islamic Movement. He served as National Head of Tarbiyah for the Islamic Society of Britain.

Selina Begum, UK

Teaching on Courses 1
Ustadha Selina is a qualified teacher, after completing her studies in Arabic she went onto study Shari’ah and Usul-ad-deen at the European Institute of Islamic Sciences. She is a skilled and dedicated teacher who has taught at Knowledgeseekers’ Summer Courses from 2003 - 2007.  She has been actively involved in dawah work for over 15 years. She is married and has one daughter

Abu Layth Al Maliki, UK

Teaching on Courses 1 & 2
Based in Birmingham, Mufti Abu Layth has spent more than 7 years in formal Islamic education at reknowned institutions in Syria and Pakistan (e.g. Binori Town Islamic University) where he has mastered Hanafi and Maliki fiqh. He has completed hifdh of the Qur'an with sanad reaching the Prophet (s). He currently teaches religious studies at Al Hijrah School whilst completing a degree in psychology in his spare time.

Mubashir Khan, UK

Mubashir Khan is a reader in social sciences and for a number of years, has been the lead researcher for Islam Awareness Week, producing the book, "1000 Years of Islam in Britain" and the One World poster series.

Dilwar Hussain, UK

Dilwar Hussain, Head of Policy Research Unit, Islamic Foundation, member of the “Preventing Extremism Together” workgroups in UK and co-editor of “British Muslims: Loyalty and Belonging”. Research Fellow and now the head of recently formed Policy Research Unit, (PRU) was appointed as Commissioner for Racial Equality for the CRE until 2009. Along with eleven other Commissioners, under the Chairmanship of Trevor Phillips, Dilwar Hussain will work towards ensuring that the race strands in equality are upheld and that the CRE will continue their work in the field of race relations and race equality.
