Policy Exchange report: Choosing Our Friends Wisely

The Islamic Society of Britain (ISB) deplores the aspersions cast upon it by the Policy Exchange report Choosing Our Friends Wisely. This is another misguided attempt to smear a respected British Muslim organisation that has a long-standing record of promoting positive engagement and social cohesion.

We at the ISB reject categorically the alarming portrayal of our organisation and see this as further evidence of unjustified and unnecessary scaremongering to create deeper divisions between the communities in our society. The allegations made against the ISB are misconceived and misrepresent what we stand for and what we believe in. Selective and out of context quotes from websites reflects poor and desperate tactics. No attempt has been made by the report’s authors to contact the ISB and investigate the truth about our activities.

For the record, our accounts are open to public scrutiny and we too would demand that the government is more transparent in how it decides to spend tax payers money under its Prevent strategy.
