Publications
We believe our leaflets are a genuinely useful source of information. We strive to make them interesting as well as informative, so that they benefit as many people as possible.
Our approach has always been to develop leaflets from scratch. This is a costly and time-consuming approach, but rather than 'recycle' old material (usually the well-intentioned work of Muslims with little real experience of British society), we feel learned British Muslims are best placed to explain the religion and share the good of Islam with their fellow citizens. After all, we seem to engage in such conversations almost everyday!
Whilst our leaflets cover their subjects well and are good enough to stand on their own, we see them as part & parcel of the Islamic Society of Britain's overall programme of work - to share the message of God with British society.
If you are Muslim by faith, these leaflets are not an excuse for not engaging with your fellow citizen. Consider these leaflets one additional reason why you should be living Islam, and exemplifying its beautiful message as best as you can. These leaflets are your tools and can be put to use in a variety of ways. We encourage you to be creative and give thought to their use, so that you get the most from them.
We'd love to hear from you regarding our leaflets. How did you feel about a certain leaflet, and what were its best features? Are you aware of any inaccuracies and can we do things better? Or maybe you know of a perfect picture we could use in future editions? You may have been handed a leaflet or you may have been handing them out. What can you say about your experience? And if you had the opportunity to put together a leaflet from scratch, what subject area would you want to tackle, how would you go about it, and why?
Leaflets are an ideal way to share what Islam teaches us about this world and our place in it. What we did not want was to end up with a collection of dry dogma. To this end, our approach has been to produce leaflets that deal with familiar issues we all come across regularly. But whether it’s the clarity of language, the full colour presentation or simply an appetite for a balanced view, one thing never changes: our leaflet stocks get wiped out time and time again!
