What is The Zakat Trust?
The Zakat Trust is an initiative to collect your Zakat and Sadaqah, and distribute it to fund UK-based Islamic activities and initiatives

What kind of activities are eligible for funding?
- Islam awareness (da’wah) initiatives
- Education, training and development (tarbiyyah) programmes
- Sponsoring UK people for studies to become scholars
- Establishment of Islamic institutions
- Production of resource materials
- Inter-faith activities

Does Shari’ah allow Zakat and Sadaqah money to be spent for these purposes?
Sheikh Abdullah Juda’i, a leading member of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, has confirmed the use of zakat and sadaqah money for the areas of work outlined above and has agreed to supervise the trustees in the distribution of funds.

How does the Trust operate?
The Trust is a company limited by guarantee (not for profit) with charitable status, operating on the basis of the Charity Commission’s rules and regulations. It is a UK-based trust to benefit activities in the UK and consists of a board of trustees with administrative personnel.
The trustees have a wealth of experience from various professional and scholarly backgrounds and are chosen for their competence and ability to manage the trust responsibly. The Trust collects and distributes zakat and sadaqah separately as required by Islamic Shari’ah (Law).

Who is eligible to receive funding?
Those who meet the criteria of the trust and have a proven track record or adequate references. All applications are compared on a competitive basis periodically and the decision of the trustees is final.

How does the Trust allocate funding?
The board of trustees meets regularly to assess the applications and allocate funds. The funding is released in phases and beneficiaries are required to submit timely reports. The Trust monitors activities to ensure that the funding is responsibly managed.

How do I make a donation?
You can donate your zakat or sadaqah to the Trust by filling in the Donation Form and making a direct bank transfer or sending a cheque made payable to "The Zakat Trust". Download Donation Form.
