Radio Ramadan Glasgow

The Society’s branch in Glasgow played a leading part (as did our Luton branch) in pioneering religious broadcasting to the local faithful during the month of Ramadan. From the initial month long broadcast in 1996, 15 years ago, community religious broadcasting during Ramadan has spread to over 20 districts and towns as local communities have been inspired to initiate a local service of their own.

The radio station has been a useful platform for discussing ideas, enhancing civic engagement, debating social and political concerns, discussing (and perhaps even helping to break some) taboos, and of course religious teachings.

Today, Society members remain committed to volunteering their time during Ramadan, juggling their between their career demands, family time and religious commitments that the month brings.
