Prophetic Solutions Report

ISB Campus is aimed at bringing 18-25 year olds together; inspiring a new generation to learn more, be more confident and to feel comfortable in our British Islamic identity. ISB campus aims to help young people find friendship and support whilst being active, engaged citizens and leaders for tomorrow.

The Campus Programme at Living Islam Festival 2016 brought together 100 young people for some excellent discussions with scholars and activists as well as entertainment with highly skilled singers such as Faraz Yousufzai, Pearls of Islam and Daw’ud Wharnsby Ali.

Feedback suggested a definite need for a safe space for this age group to further explore key contemporary issues that affect the world today in an atmosphere of friendship, trust and spirituality.

This led to the first Campus Residential on 22-24th November 2016 at Markfield Conference Centre entitled ‘Today’s Problems…..Prophetic Solutions.’ We explored issues surrounding gender ethics, the challenges young people face today, key incidents in the life of Muhammad SAW, assimilation and integration as well as feminism. Many of our attendees also attended an Active Citizens Course which proved very popular. Feedback was incredibly positive citing the value of open, non judgemental spaces, the ability to critically think and question and the fostering of deep friendships.

This is some of the feedback received:

  • ‘This non judgemental space helped me to believe in my principles and believe in me!’
  • ‘Well organised and enjoyable first event. Would definitely come again.’
  • ‘Really grateful that the members really care for and are considerate of all the young people.’

Our second residential is all planned for 3-5th March 2017 in Doncaster and will explore Marriage and have workshops on Organisational Skills. Watch this space for further details!!
We are very keen for young people to be feeding back and planning future events. This is aided by a closed Facebook group entitled ‘ISB Campus.’ Through this medium, we have formed a committee to plan the second residential and have designed a fantastic ISB Campus logo.

2017 will see videos discussing contemporary issues as well as theological topics being posted on the Facebook site. So join up and see what is on offer!
